Blue Contact Lenses - Maybe Even Green Or Grey Or Violet Or Hazel !!

Most contact lenses are tinted slightly, either a very pale shade of green or of blue. This is done in order to make it easier for us to see them, specially if they are dropped. The tints are very light and do not affect the vision in anyway. After all, it is easier to locate a blue contact lens than to attempt to look for a transparent lens.

However, a darker tint is now available mainly to be used as a means to enhance the beauty. They come in a plain form  - i.e for use by those who do not need corrective lenses, and they are available as bifocal lenses and also disposable lenses.

Blue contact lenses are presently the most popular and commonly used colored lenses. There are many other shades available such as green, amethyst, violet and gray. They can be used to enhance the color of your eyes or to completely change the appearance of your eyes.

The tints used to color the lenses can be classified as visibility tints, enhancements tints and color tints. As is evident from the names , the visibility colors are added only to be able to easily locate the lenses. They may look like blue contact lenses, but they do not affect the colors of the eyes in any way.

The enhancements tints are used only to slightly darken the original colors of your eyes. They may be used to transform light blue eyes in a deeper and more vivid shade of blue.

The color tints can dramatically change the appearance of your eyes. If you wear blue contact lenses over grey or light green eyes the eyes the effect can be a dramatic and fairly disconcerting one  - specially for the onlookers.

There are a few safeguards that need to be kept in mind when using blue contact lenses, or lenses of any other color. The companies have tried very hard to replicate the shape and pattern of your iris so that the lenses look normal. They are made with many tiny colored dots on the lens, and the pupil is left plain, so that the vision is clear. Despite all the advances in technology it is important to do try out all the different colors at your optician in order to find out which color suits you best.
